Similar to what happens in a natural environment, bamboo will decompose but the amount of time this takes is dependent on things like soil composition, temperature, and the size and density of the object, amongst other variables. Time frames can range from a few months to a few years. Breaking it down into smaller pieces can accelerate the process of decomposition and this is recommended before introducing it into an environment that’s suitable for composting.
The cutting board and tongs contain a non-toxic, food-safe, water-based glue and although these are certified bio-based products, we can’t say with 100% certainty that the glue used is naturally biodegradable.
